Tested positive for TB

Posted on Sep 22nd, 2007 by pookietooth : Sun lover pookietooth
So, I had to get a TB test for a coop preschool Chris wants to go to (his friend is going there, and he wanted to go too). I got a positive test -- 10 mm which is considered positive. I had it done at an urgent care place. They had an X-Ray facility there, so I was able to get a chest X-Ray (required to see if I have active TB). According to the doctor, my chest X-Ray was fine, but he referred me to an infectious disease specialist. He said that usually people take a three month round of medication to eradicate the TB bacteria. Ugh. And the nurse told me the meds cause all kinds of side effects, like hair loss, skin problems, and liver damage. Wonderful.
I have no idea why I may have been exposed to TB. I am guessing it was during my rather marginal days in 1989-1993. These things have a way of coming back to haunt you.
