Under what circumstances, if any, would you lie?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 19, 2007:

I would lie to protect myself from being hurt, or if I thought I might hurt someone's feelings. I would protect myself by lying if the truth might make someone too mad for me to handle.
