I don't like the question about whether or not humanity has grown up, because I don't think being grown up is a linear progression, and because in our society growing up means getting knocked down and beaten into submission, either literally or figuratively, until an individual has no true will to live or knowledge of what they really want. And also because if you look at a species' population changes over time, all species go extinct eventually, but the rest may be totally random -- from abundant to scarce repeatedly up until near the end. I would wonder whether or not we are near our end, except that I don't think anyone could say for sure until it's happened. Are we nearing extinction? I don't know but it sure seems that way some of the time.

I don't know exactly what happiness means, because I myself have very rarely experienced what most people would call happiness, or at least freedom from despair, sadness, self-loathing, and terror. I think that when someone says that they want to be happy, they usually mean they want to have fun, experience joy, or get what they want from someone or from a situation. But that kind of happiness, if it does happen, is very short-lived, since it comes from outside oneself. I know personally that when I laugh, when I see a beautiful sunset, it is to be distracted from the pain that I usually feel. It feels temporary even as it's happening. Is that happiness?

Humans, all sorts. I try, anyway. I think the question should include non-humans and spirit beings as well, although I've not been great at communicating with those. I miss my cat!

I think being independent is difficult for human beings. We tend as a species to stay with groups of others like us, both for safety (or the illusion of it) and to help with food and other things. So to be totally independent is really rather difficult. To rely on oneself for 100% of everything in our world is next to impossible, although one can be independent-minded while still interacting with others to meet your physical needs. There are people who say that they live only on breath, or the sun, or water, but the rest of us need to eat, and to eat we need to gather food, which we at least need to share land to do in such a crowded world. And I think we in generall (and there are exceptions) all need others to talk to, to love, to relate to, regularly.

I think some people like to limit art to the visual arts, but really all expressions are a form of art, even just talking. That said, I think that beauty is all around us, in nature and created by people, and it can make things a lot more pleasant.

Going out to have fun in parks rather than staying home. Our apartment is just not what I would call a home. It's a crash pad, and that's the way my places tend to be. I have no idea what it feels like to come home and really feel comfortable being there.
